What's that crazy word in the title of this post, you ask? Well it's only the great race in all of sport. That's right the R
elgium, or as it's more popularly known, the Tour de France
, Le Tour.
For the next 3 weeks you can expect a steady diet of updates from not just the baseball universe. I'm a tour junkie, I wake up early just to listen to the audio feeds of important stages. Sadly, I don't have OLN. Though perhaps that is a good thing. I'd, no doubt, waste countless hours in front of the TV watching replays of the days highlights if i did.
I'm not just one of those people who jumped on the Lance bandwagon back in 1999 either. I'm 24, and I can remember watching Lemond and Hinault, and later Lemond Fignon battling it out. I've done a bunch of cross-state bicycle tours
, and even a few through the Rocky Mountains
, but I can hardly imagine the amount of work that those guys do.
Here's a gratuitous shot of me on top of Monarch pass
in Colorado a couple of years ago. I've since upgraded bikes, to a gorgeous titanium Lemond.
So on with my Tour predictions.
Overall (yellow jersey)
1. Tyler Hamilton
2. Jan Ulrich
3. Lance Armstrong
4. Iban Mayo
5. Oscar Sevilla -- Wild Card, I think he may be the reason Tyler wins
Points (green jersey)
-- Not a bold prediction, but He's just that much faster than everyone else. --
Mountains (polka-dot jersey)
-- Hardest to predict, it's often won by someone who goes on long breakaways. --
Lance ~ 6th
Tyler ~ 8th
Mayo ~ 21st
