I was working on a small site redesign today, and if I ever figure it out, those of you rockin' the 800x600 resolution screen setting are really gonna hate this site. Oh well. It's 2004, it's time to trade in your Apple IIe and get a bigger/better screen.
The plan was to add an extra column to the right side. I have all the HTML worked out, and it wont negatively effect those with a resolution of 1024 or higher, but I ran into a problem with the content that I wanted to put over there.
I have recently discovered the benefits of clicking those "syndicate my site" links on blogs. You can add them to a reader, (I'm using Bloglines
) and it will pull up all of the new entries of the sites you've subscribed to in one easy to use webpage.
I know there's a way to pull just the most recent entry of a given blog from the RSS feed and dynamically link it. I was going to add some baseball links, (Just the latest news type stuff) and I was going to try and create a ChiSox blogosphere section, where the latest stuff from other White Sox blogs. Alas, I wasn't able to get it to work. If anyone knows how to incorporate XML or OPML into a webpage, I'd appreciate it if you drop me a line.
Anyways, I highly encourage all of you to click the link at the bottom of the left hand column and check out what bloglines can do. You can subscribe all types of things like sports
, and other great stuff
. It cuts down on all of that useless searching around the internet, and brings content straight to you.
