I'm sure you've already heard by now, but Mark Buehrle appears to be
out for 4-6 weeks with a hairline fracture in his foot. The injury occured yesterday during the routine task of shagging fly balls. Reportedly Buehrle has a hairline fracture of the fourth metatarsal in his foot, but MRI results proved to be inconclusive. A CT scan is scheduled, and a more definite time table should known tomorrow.
My own thinking is that this shouldn't be too big of a deal, and Buehrle may miss 3-4 starts. I wouldn't be surprised to see him pitching in the first week of the season. Again, we'll know more tomorrow, and there's no reason to get worked up right now.
Update: AP reports that
Buehrle appears to be OK. The fracture is now being referred to as a "stress reaction" to a previous injury.
